The Ville de Saint-Lambert and its crossing guard staff sign a new collective agreement

Published on 24 Sep 2025

It was with great pride that the principal officials of the Ville de Saint-Lambert and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 307, gathered on Tuesday, September 23, to officially sign the new collective agreement for crossing guards, which will cover the period from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2030.

Both parties expressed their satisfaction with the respectful and constructive atmosphere in which the negotiations took place. The rapid conclusion of an agreement in principle, after only five days of negotiations, reflects their shared commitment to addressing the concerns of staff and recognizing their essential role in the community.

"Day after day, these women and men ensure the safety of children on their way to and from school. Their presence is reassuring for parents. Our school brigade plays an indispensable role in the daily lives of Saint-Lambert families, and I am pleased that this agreement was reached in a spirit of openness and collaboration,"
said Pascale Mongrain, Mayor of Saint-Lambert.

The new agreement provides for more efficient work organization, in particular through increased presence in the territory and simplified replacement and leave processes. These measures will offer greater flexibility and prevent service disruptions. The agreement also includes wage increases over five years, indexed to the CPI, ranging from 2.25% to 4%, as well as an additional day of leave. The terms and conditions have also been updated to ensure compliance with labour standards and the well-being of staff.
