Annual crack-cealing operation in select parking lots and streets throughout the municipality

Published on 27 Jul 2026

To extend the lifespan of paved surfaces, crack-sealing work will begin in the week of August 3 and continue for several weeks on select streets and in select parking lots throughout the municipality. Sealing the cracks will prevent rainwater and debris from seeping into them, thereby slowing the deterioration of the pavement.

Don’t be surprised to see a thin layer of biodegradable paper (toilet paper) on the streets! This is an effective method to prevent the adhesive used for sealing from being torn away by vehicles.

Temporary Parking Restrictions

To ensure that the work proceeds smoothly, temporary parking restrictions will be put in place. These will allow crews to carry out paving work across the full width of the affected lanes.

  • Municipal overnight parking lots: Signs will be posted starting at 7:00 p.m. the previous day. Parking lots will be completely closed starting at midnight. They will reopen around 7 a.m. the following morning.
  • Nighttime street work: Signs will be posted starting at 5 p.m. the day before and will remain in effect between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.
  • Daytime street work: Signs will be posted before 7 p.m. the day before and will remain in effect between 7 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Phase 1 – Nighttime

The first phase of the work, which will begin the week of August 3, will take place on Riverside Street, Simard Boulevard (between Route 132 and Gascogne), the downtown area, and the following municipal parking lots:

  • Along Riverside Street, between Rhône and Simard;
  • Recreation Center;
  • Public parking lot on Elm (behind the Caisse Desjardins);
  • All parking lots at the Seaway Park.

This phase will take place at night due to heavy daytime traffic. The work is expected to take one week, weather permitting.

Phase 2 – Daytime
