Rehabilitation of a portion of Green Street

Rehabilitation of a portion of Green Street

In the summer of 2024, the Ville de Saint-Lambert proceded with the reconstruction of Green Street (between Notre-Dame and Oak avenues). The work involved replacing sewer and water mains, as well as repaving and rebuilding sidewalks. The City took advantage of this work to decontaminate and rebuild the library parking lot.

All work is now complete except for the second layer of paving, which is scheduled for summer 2025.

Project schedule

  1. Mid-April 2024: Gradual mobilization of contractor (excavation, demolition, temporary aqueduct, etc.)
  2. Mid-April 2024: Sewer and aqueduct work begins on the section between Mercille and Oak avenues
  3. End of June 2024 (after school ends): Sewer and aqueduct work begins on the section between Mercille and Notre-Dame avenues
  4. Summer 2024: Sidewalks, paving and surface rehabilitation
  5. Summer 2025: Second layer of paving

Traffic

The completion of the second layer of paving will result in the complete closure of Green Street between Victoria and Maple Avenues during the week of August 4, 2025.

During the work, and in order to facilitate travel in the area, traffic will flow in both directions on Mercille, Birch, and Pine Avenues (between Desaulniers Boulevard and Lespérance Street). Only access to stores and local traffic will be permitted on these streets.

Motorists are asked to follow the detour route and obey the signs in place, and to exercise caution when traveling.

Note that some work remains to be completed. For this reason, parking restrictions between Notre-Dame and Oak avenues remain in place. We ask you to be cautious when traveling near the work zone, and to respect the signalization in place.

Thank you for your collaboration!

As part of the work on Green Street, residents of Mercille Avenue, between Desaulniers Boulevard and Lespérance Street, will have their water turned off at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, August 6. The shutdown will last approximately six hours.

On-street parking will no longer be possible on this section of the street. In addition, the parking spaces reserved for the library on Mercille Avenue will be partly occupied by the construction trailer.

Citizens who need to get to St. Lambert Elementary or the library will have to plan to park on the streets around the worksite.

Whenever possible, we encourage you to consider walking or cycling to get to the sector.

You can consult the presentation made to the citizens during the meeting of October 25.
