The Saint-Lambert golf courses are now protected in their entirety as green spaces

At the request of the Saint-Lambert City Council, the Communauté métropolitaine de Montréal has added the two Saint-Lambert golf courses to its list of Interim Control Regulations (ICR) concerning sectors with potential for conversion to green space or natural environment.

This listing gives the lands occupied by the Club de golf St-Lambert and the Country Club of Montreal protection over 100% of their respective areas as public spaces with strong potential for conversion into green spaces or natural environments. These lands are currently subject to long-term leases with the municipality. Should golf use cease in the future, they will not be used for real estate development and will instead be reconverted to green space or natural environment.

"Since the beginning of our mandate, we have made the environment a priority. That's why we are proud that our two golf courses will benefit from additional regulatory protection. We are acting on our ambition to ensure the sustainable and responsible development of our city," explained Mayor Pascale Mongrain.

This action is in line with the Saint-Lambert City Council's desire to protect the city's green spaces in the best possible way. Golf courses account for over 10% of the city's total surface area.
