Published on 10 Jun 2025
The City Council met on June 9, 2025 for its monthly public meeting. Mayor Pascale Mongrain opened the meeting by speaking on several topics of interest:
- Well-deserved recognition for Julie F. Bélanger, General Manager, CPE du Mouillepied
- Successful collective garage sales and Neighbours' Day
- Unfortunate obligation to cease English translation due to Bill 96
- Critical need for volunteers at Centre de bénévolat de la Rive-Sud
- Work begins on boulevard de l'Union and avenue Hickson
- Important clarification concerning ethics citations of two elected members of the municipal council and the work climate within the City of Saint-Lambert
The following is a summary of the main issues discussed and orientations adopted.
1. Nomination of a new interim general manager
Jacques Desormeaux, Acting General Manager, will complete his term of office on June 13. To replace him between now and the next elections, the Municipal Council has appointed Mr. Sylvain Villeneuve, also as Acting General Manager. Mr. Villeneuve will take up his duties on June 11, 2025.
Mr. Villeneuve is a seasoned manager with many years of experience in the municipal world, notably as General Manager of the Sud-Ouest Borough for the Ville de Montreal.
An urban planner by training, his in-depth knowledge of the community and municipal issues will be an asset to our city. We welcome him to our team.
2. Agreement with Centre de la petite enfance du Mouillepied
The Municipal Council has authorized the signing of a letter of agreement with the CPE du Mouillepied, in order to prioritize the 16 new spaces that the CPE will soon be offering at its facility at 266 avenue Saint-Denis, for the benefit of Saint-Lambertois children. The Council is delighted with this addition of spaces and has reiterated its desire to ensure that CPE spaces in our city are offered as a priority to Saint-Lambert residents.
3. New construction at 525, avenue Notre-Dame
Although Council withdrew from the agenda the project to build 76 rental housing units on the lot at 525, avenue Notre-Dame, i.e. the parking lot of the former Taylor's store, several clarifications were provided regarding this project. The application for approval of the site planning and integration program (PIIA) will be brought back before Council, ideally after the developer has presented his plans to our community at a public presentation.
