Snow clearing: Thank you for your understanding!

Our teams are still busy cleaning up the city following the heavy snowfall on December 3 and 4. The weight of the waterlogged snow, the duration of the precipitation, the bent electrical wires and the large number of fallen branches complicated and delayed our teams' work.

Firstly, the snow-laden electrical and telephone wires prevented some machinery from getting through, due to insufficient clearance. Secondly, the City had to temporarily push the snow onto sidewalks, some of which were unfortunately in school zones, to ensure the safe passage of emergency vehicles. Secondly, the machinery was unable to do an adequate job in places due to the excessive weight of the snow. Finally, on narrower streets, vehicles parked on the street prevented the snow removal trucks from passing.

Our crews are continuing their work. Loading operations will begin tonight at 11 p.m., particularly in the downtown area and nearby streets, and will continue over the next few days.
