Public Library Week: Learn more about it at the Saint-Lambert library!

Thursday 10 October 2019

The City of Saint-Lambert is proud to announce the 2019 edition of Public Library Week, which will run from October 19 to 26.

Now more than ever, public libraries are the heartbeat of their community, bringing citizens together to take advantage of the various services they offer. With 60% of the local population registered as members of the Saint-Lambert library, we can truly say that it fits the tradition of providing a “third space” for local residents.

It is a place for learning and making new discoveries, thanks to its diverse collection of nearly 100,000 physical documents and 10,500 digital documents. It is also a place humming with activity where both young and old can meet up and share ideas. Last year, for example, the library offered 180 activities that drew more than 4,000 participants.

Take advantage of this special week to discover, or rediscover, your library!

An impressive program!

From October 19 to 26, citizens are also invited to participate in various free activities at the library:

  • Conte de Chalet: Histoires d’automne (in French)
    Saturday, October 19, at 11 a.m.
    For ages 3 to 5
Registration required in-person or by calling 450-466-3910

Youngsters are invited to discover the pleasure of listening to beautiful stories about autumn. The reading will be followed by a crafts activity.

  • Playtime this afternoon!
    Monday, October 21, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
    For children and teens

Youngsters will be able to take advantage of their school “ped days” to have fun discovering new games with their friends! The library offers games for all tastes. Fun and laughter guaranteed! These are free-play activities with no group facilitator.
  • Ciné-découverte: Métamorphose (in French)
Tuesday, October 22, at 1:30 p.m., at the library, and Thursday, October 24, at 7 p.m. at City Hall

Ode to the planet, Métamorphose takes the Earth’s pulse and bears witness to a time of profound change: the loss of one world and the birth of another. This film by Nova Ami and Velcrow Ripper is 1 hour 24 minutes long.

This activity is funded by the National Film Board (NFB).

  • Friday gamedays!
    Friday, October 25, from 6 :30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why not participate in these evening tournaments on video game consoles (PS4, Switch) at the library! While waiting your turn, you can try your hand at a variety of table games.
