With his piano, he pays tribute to the first geniuses of the silver screen who have long since been forgotten. From Chaplin and Keaton to Laurel and Hardy, Zavada accompanies a series of excerpts, creating a musical mood in perfect harmony with the action of the film.


Bringing silent film to modern audiences
Roman Zavada is one of the official accompanists of the Cinémathèque québécoise. He quickly garnered a critical reputation as a silent film accompanist, improvising real-time musical narration to these classics of the past. For more than 15 years, Zavada has travelled across Quebec and Canada presenting his silent film concerts. With a contemporary, spontaneous and always surprising musical touch, he has succeeded in helping modern audiences rediscover the exceptional profession of live movie accompanist!

A vaccination passport and photo ID is required for people aged 13 and up to take part in this activity. Children aged 12 years and under may be required to show ID (health insurance card or student card) to validate their age.
