- When : Sunday 24 May 2020 from 08:00 to 16:00
As a precautionary measure due to the COVID-19 situation, this event is cancelled.
The annual community-wide garage sale will take place on the May 25-26 weekend, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. It’s the perfect time to hunt for bargains and chat with neighbours. By putting used items back into circulation, you are helping protect the environment while contributing to a good cause.
Unsold or giveaway items?
Le Support de la société québécoise de la déficience intellectuelle, which offers financial aid to organizations that assist people living with developmental disabilities, will join forces with the community-wide garage sale by offering a home pick-up service. Two trucks from the organization will circulate on city streets between noon and 6 p.m. to collect any unsold used clothing and articles in good condition (dishes, toys, paintings, small electrical appliances, books, VHS videotapes, audiotapes, CDs and vinyl records) that you wish to discard.
On this weekend, you can also call Le Support at 514-825-8382, starting at 9 a.m., to ask for a truck to come directly to your house to pick up any items you wish to donate. Or you can simply place your donations beside the road in bags or boxes that are clearly identified with the name of the organization. Please note that this phone number is only effective during this special weekend. If you wish to contact Le Support at other times, you can do so by calling 514 725-9797.
To hold a garage sale at any other time of the year, you must obtain a permit from the Urban Planning, Permits and Inspection Department at a cost of $20 (limited to one per year per household). These sales can only be held on a Saturday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., but can be postponed to the next day in the event of rain.
