The library reopens on October 19 at noon

Friday 13 October 2017

The City of Saint-Lambert is informing citizens that the library will finally open on October 19. The extra few days that have been added to the original timeline will make it possible to complete work that has been deemed a priority to ensure the smooth functioning of all activities along with the comfort of library patrons.

The library will therefore reopen next Thursday at noon, according to regular opening hours: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon to 9 p.m.; Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Therefore, the following activities that were to have taken place at the library next week will move to Council Chambers at City Hall (55 Argyle Avenue):

  • Screening: Expo 67, Mission Impossible
    Tuesday, October 17, from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Préludes à l’opéra: The three most underestimated operas of Giuseppe Verdi
    Tuesday, October 17, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • Screening: Expo 67, Mission Impossible
    Thursday, October 19, from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Youth section still under construction

The youth section will unfortunately not be open for another few weeks, as major renovations are still under way. But the wait will have been worth it, because once it is completed, youngsters will finally have a beautiful space that meets their needs!

This delay means that we are obliged to postpone the activity “All about... dinosaurs!” which was to take place on October 21 as part of the Rentrée culturelle. It will be rescheduled when the youth section opens, as one of the objectives of this activity is to have the young participants discover the new space.

Citizens are invited to check in with and the municipal social media to keep updated about the situation.

Official inauguration as planned

The official inauguration will take place as planned on Friday, October 20. During the ceremony, the City will pay tribute to the generous donor, Isaac Yung Zung Zia, with the unveiling of a plaque in his honour. The evening will wrap up with a literary reading by actors Catherine Trudeau and Vincent Graton, organized in collaboration with the Friends of the Library Foundation.

This will be followed by the kick off for the Rentrée culturelle, during which a host of activities dedicated to celebrating and showcasing the vitality of our culture will be offered at the library. From October 20 to 22, in collaboration with various cultural organizations, the City will present a series of concerts, lectures and exhibitions.

The complete Rentrée culturelle program is available online in the Publications section or in print in all municipal buildings.
